Web Summit 2021 overview

Web Summit is a company from Dublin, Ireland, that holds events across the world: Web Summit in Lisbon, Collision in Toronto and RISE in Asia.

Forbes has said we run “the best technology conference on the planet”, the Atlantic writes that Web Summit is “where the future goes to be born”, and the New York Times calls the conference “a grand conclave of the tech industry’s high priests”.

At a time of great uncertainty for many industries – and for the world itself – we gather fast-growing startups, the founders and CEOs of major technology companies, influential policymakers and heads of state to ask a simple question: where to next?

1990-231 Lisbon, Portugal.

Dress code

There is no specific dress code for Web Summit. However, people tend to dress smart casual at the conference and for any peripheral events.

Please note: For best results on film, we ask that you avoid wearing thin stripes and check patterns where possible. These can sometimes cause strobing on camera.

Your visa

If you’re travelling from outside the EU, please be sure to check whether you need a visa to enter Portugal. While we will not engage directly with your relevant embassy, we can supply you with a letter confirming you will be speaking at Web Summit in order to support your application. Please contact your speaker success manager directly for details.

Please note that your embassy will require notice before issuing your visa.

Official vaccine certificates or a negative Covid-19 test result will be required to attend Web Summit. Where official certificates cannot be provided, organisers will require a negative PCR test, which will only remain valid for 72 hours.

While it’s unlikely that masks will be legally required indoors in Portugal by November, Web Summit will remain supportive of any attendee who wishes to wear a mask.

If any rules regarding vaccines and mask wearing change closer to November, all attendees will be alerted in a timely fashion. Web Summit will ensure all appropriate measures, as set by the Portuguese health authorities in November, are adhered to.

The Jobs Board is an opportunity for Web Summit partners and speaker companies to connect with talent.

The jobs board is a dedicated page on the Web Summit website that showcases companies that are actively hiring. We will promote this page to all Web Summit attendees in the lead up to the event.

The jobs board web page will launch in early October.

Please submit your jobs board post via this form by October 1. Please read all guidelines below carefully before submitting your jobs board post.

How does it work?

  1. Submit your company information via the form provided, including;
  • A brief description of your company and what roles you are hiring for
  • Where your roles are based
  • A link to a ‘work with us’ page or video
  1. Our team will review your suggested jobs board posting and, if approved, your posting will be added to the jobs board web page.
  2. The jobs board will be live pre-event, during Web Summit and, and post-event, until November 18.
  3. We will share with you the following details for every attendee who expresses an interest in working for your company:
  • Attendee name
  • Attendee email
  • Job title
  • Country
  • LinkedIn profile link

The applicant list will be shared with you on pre-event and again post-event, once the campaign ends.

We facilitate networking opportunities and collaborations between speakers as much as we possibly can.

You can book 30-minute slots in our speaker meeting rooms during Web Summit. Our speaker meeting rooms each include a table, six seats and stationery. There is also a water cooler in each room.

You will be able to reserve a meeting room online closer to the event. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact your speaker success manager.
